New research by bioengineer Dr. David Schmidtke is helping understand how corneal repair cells called keratocytes sometimes result in scarring and blindness. Schmidtke’s team at University of Texas at Dallas have demonstrated a technique in the lab for fabricating tiny strands of collagen called fibrils to facilitate further research on the eye’s repair process.
